When:  June 12-15

The retreat will be based at East Lake RV Resort, 22430 Paulina Lake Rd, La Pine, OR 97739, (541) 536-2230.  It is close to La Pine and 42 miles from Bend.  We are tent camping alongside the shores of East Lake inside the Newberry National Volcanic  Monument.  There are many trails close by.  We also plan to visit Crater Lake (2 hours away) and Smith Rock State Park (1 hour, forty minutes away).

The cost is $100 plus 4 hours of volunteer time.  We will leave at 7am on Monday, June 12th.  Please pack a lunch for the 1st day or have money to buy lunch in Bend.  Twins Ranch Catering will be serving meals starting with dinner on the 12th and ending with breakfast on June 15th.  Be prepared to pay for lunch on the way home on June 15th.

WARM CLOTHS, especially at night, in the 30’s

 · Sleeping Bag, Air Mattress/Foam Pad, and Pillow

· Workout Clothes and Sweats—enough for 4 days of running

· Socks (2 pairs per day)

· Shirts, Pants, Shorts, and Underwear

 · Warm Clothes–jacket, sweatshirt, hat, warm pants

· Bathing Suit and Towel(s)

 · Sandals/Flip Flops

· Personal Toiletries

· Insect Repellent

· Flashlight (with new batteries)

· Water Bottles (32 oz) or Camel Pack and Cup

· Small Backpack

· Dirty Clothes Bag

· “Post-run” snacks, energy bars, etc.

Money for lunch the 1st day, last day, and snacks, etc.

Tents—group tents – if you have a tent, bring it, sleeping in groups

Weather, 60’s, nights in the 30’s—very cold at night.

Itinerary:

Monday morning, 7am leave

Run in Smith Rock State Park near Redmond, Oregon

Lunch in Bend

Proceed to East Lake in Newberry National Volcanic Monument – set up camp

Team hike in lava beds, acclimation to altitude

Dinner

Tuesday:  Pauline Peak Hiking Trail or Crater Rim Trail, Hike to Pauline Falls & Photos, possible hot springs

Wed: Crater Lake, run Mt. Scott Trail, 4.5 miles total,  2 hours away, packed lunch,

Thurs:  Newberry Crater Rim Trail or run in Bend on way home

Home in early evening,
